The Christmas Tree

 
The Christmas Tree is an important part of our tradition, supposedly proved in Germany around 1600. The tree (a fir or pine tree) is secretly decorated on the Holy Night (24th Dec.) by the parents in the Christmas room (mostly the living or sitting room). Then, at night, when the bell is calling to the giving out of Christmas presents, the children finally may come in and adore the splendor. The tree is decorated with candles (nowadays preferably electric ones), sweets, lametta, coloured decorations, straw stars, and Christmas baubles. Dependend on the favour, one colour is dominating, often red but also blue or gold.

Those, who are not able to go to the forest, cut a tree of their choice, and bring it home through the snow, have got another possiblity:
